College Football Season is right around the corner and will be here before we know it. This season is going to definitely be exciting. We already know that this season at the University of Arkansas is going to be a season of change and transition, even our uniforms are going through a redesign. To what extent the program itself changes remains to be seen. I know that I personally hope that the current coaching staff can take the legacy Petrino program and build on it, and I think that that’s the game plan going into the season.
Knowing that John L. Smith is acting more or less as an interim coach for the season in order to carry on the Petrino program at the U of A, a lot of people are already speculating as to who the next Razorback head coach might be. I had a friend who follows “all things Razorback Football” pretty closely send me this list that he ran across on one of the message boards. There are some great candidates on the list. I think my personal favorites would have to be Tuberville, Malzahn, Holtz, Pellini, and Davis.
- Art Briles, Baylor
- Mario Christobal, Florida International
- Mark Dantonio, Michigan State
- Butch Davis, former Miami, North Carolina coach
- Dana Holgorsen, West Virginia
- Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern
- Larry Fedora, North Carolina
- James Franklin, Vanderbilt
- Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State
- Skip Holtz, South Florida
- Mark Hudspeth, Louisiana-Lafayette
- Butch Jones, Cincinnati
- Gus Malzahn, Arkansas State
- Garrick McGee, UAB
- Dan Mullen, Mississippi State
- Gary Patterson, TCU
- Bo Pellini, Nebraska
- Chris Petersen, Boise State
- Paul Rhodes, Iowa State
- Greg Roman, San Francisco 49ers OC
- Steve Sarkisian, Washington
- Kirby Smart, Alabama DC
- Charlie Strong, Louisville
- Tommy Tubberville, Texas Tech
- Lorenzo Ward, South Carolina DC
Just curious, who would you like to see as the new Razorback Head Football Coach next season??

While I think the job is Gus’ to turn down, I think either Patterson or Peterson have the resumes to move in and not miss a beat. Certainly comfortable with the man responsible for making the hire. He’ll do right by UA and supporters.
