Rare Pink Side-Notched Projectile Point – Phillips County, AR (Mississippian/Archaic)

$140.00

Product Overview: A beautifully preserved example of prehistoric craftsmanship, this side-notched projectile point was surface-found on a private farm in the heart of the Arkansas Delta (Phillips County). Featuring a vivid pink and crimson hue, this piece is a standout for collectors of Southern lithics.Artifact Details: * Classification: Side-Notched Point (Big Sandy/Cache River variant). Era: Archaic to Early Mississippian transition. Material: High-grade Red River Jasper / Heat-treated Arkansas Novaculite. Dimensions: [Insert exact length/width here, e.g., 2.5″ x 1″]. Condition: Exceptional. Features deep, symmetrical side notches and a sharp, intact tip. The flaking patterns suggest a master knapper’s hand. Why It’s Unique: Phillips County is famous for its proximity to the Helena Mound site. Unlike the common grey chert found elsewhere, the “pink” coloration of this piece often results from intentional heat-treating by ancient peoples to make the stone easier to flake, making it a “premium” artifact of its time.Estimated ValueBecause of the rare color and the high degree of symmetry, this single piece is worth more than the standard field-finds from your other farm.
