Eastern Arkansas Farm Collection: 20 pieces

$500.00

In the Helena/Oneida region, artifacts are typically made from Crowley’s Ridge Chert (tan, brown, or orange) or Arkansas Novaculite (translucent white, gray, or pink).Key Identification Points Location: Eastern Arkansas (Phillips County). Source: Surface-found on private land near the Mississippi River. Possible Types (Based on Region): Gary Points: Thick, triangular points with a contracting stem (Late Archaic to Woodland period). Dalton Points: Distinctive “fish-like” shape with a concave base (Early Archaic, very popular with collectors). Nodena or Madison Points: Often called “Bird Points”—small, thin, and teardrop-shaped (Mississippian period). Cultural Context: This area was part of the Casqui and Pacaha territories encountered by De Soto. The artifacts likely date from the Woodland (1000 BC – 1000 AD) or Mississippian (1000 AD – 1550 AD) periods.
