Description
Description: A beautiful, nearly complete example of a Gary projectile point, dating to the Woodland period. This piece was recovered from private property in Phillips County, Arkansas. It is crafted from a high-quality tan Crowley’s Ridge Chert with subtle iron-oxide “freckling” that adds wonderful character to the stone.
This point features the classic contracting stem and rounded base that defines the Gary type. The blade shows evidence of prehistoric re-sharpening, resulting in a robust, thick cross-section and a slightly asymmetrical profile. It is an excellent representative piece of the transition from late Archaic into the Woodland era in the Mississippi River Valley.
