Vintage Whopper Stopper “Hellbender” Deep Diver – Orange Coach Dog Finish (c. 1950s-1960s)

Vintage Whopper Stopper “Hellbender” Crankbait – Orange Coach DogBring a bold burst of mid-century angling design to your vintage tackle display with this classic Whopper Stopper Hellbender. Originally engineered in Texas to handle the deep, rugged reservoirs of the post-war era, the Hellbender remains one of the most uniquely recognizable deep-diving lures ever produced.This historic model features the iconic, oversized heart-shaped metal diving lip that gave the bait its deep-diving depth and aggressive wide-wobbling action. Hand-painted in a vibrant Orange Coach Dog finish, it showcases deep black vertical rib marks, a rich black head mask, and classic painted orange eyes. Equipped with two vintage treble hooks mounted via strong surface eyelets, this lure features a beautiful, authentic aged patina that tells the story of its era. It’s a fantastic display piece with massive visual appeal for any antique tackle collector or cabin mantelpiece. Manufacturer: Whopper Stopper, Inc. (Sherman, TX) Model: Hellbender Material: Early molded composite/plastic or wood body, metal diving lip Hardware: Heart-shaped metal diving lip, dual heavy-duty treble hooks Color/Pattern: Orange Coach Dog (Orange with Black Ribs / Black Mask) Condition: Authentic vintage condition. The body shows natural age wear, minor surface scuffs, and small paint chips at the nose and tail tips from historical tackle-box storage. The metal lip shows an excellent aged dark patina. Please note: This piece is missing its original trailing tail spinner blade, priced accordingly.
