Wordcamp Fayetteville Presentation: Rapid Theme Development w/ Genesis Framework

June 22, 2012 by Cotton Rohrscheib Leave a Comment

Update 06/25/12: I will be giving away (2) Genesis Frameworks w/ Child Theme during my presentation, compliments of Studiopress Genesis & Brian Gardner. This is an awesome prize for two lucky people that attend my session!! You can checkout what’s available here…

I got an email today from my good friend Christopher Spencer, the web communications specialist at the University of Arkansas, (who are hosting  Wordcamp Fayetteville) to let me know that they have chosen the presentation that I submitted on Rapid Theme Development w/ Genesis Framework.

I’m really looking forward to doing this talk because I’m such a huge fan of Genesis Framework and have been since it was introduced by Brian Gardner and the people at Studiopress. During my talk we will cover the following:

  • What is a theme framework?
  • Advantages to using a theme framework
  • What is a child theme?
  • Setup & Configuration of Genesis w/ a child theme
  • How to Extend Genesis w/ Plugins

During the session I will actually build a website w/ a sample child theme live and demonstrate the flexibility of the framework in terms of designing a website to look exactly how you want it to look. I will also demonstrate how WordPress can be a totally customizable content management solution w/ the help of Genesis Framework that can be turned over to your clients w/ total confidence that you have delivered a scalable, flexible solution to meet their needs!
