Nascar Embraces Twitter

March 2, 2009 by Cotton Rohrscheib 4 Comments

Kerry Murphey of The Final Lap Radio Show & Podcast recently posted a guide to Nascar on My partners and I  have been using Twitter a lot to promote projects we have been doing for Mark Martin as well as NascarView.  You can follow @nascarview on twitter and stay up to date with all of our updates.

The Final Lap has been a member of Twitter.com for probably 6 months now, and the community of NASCAR fans, drivers, tracks, media, manufacturers etc, has certainly grown.  Heck, Twitter itself seems to have exploded tremendously in just the last month or so.  On Thursday I posted the question, how many other drivers were “Tweeting” besides Max Papis (@maxpapis), who is now a fan favorite.  The reason he is popular with the NASCAR crowd is the fact that it’s actually him tweeting from the garage area, posting photos from fan appearances, even what he’s listening to on his iPod.

People responded with several other drivers that have Twitter accounts, but not all are posting like Max Papis.  Some are, but not very often, some have their public relations people doing it, and in the case of Kyle Busch, it seems to be from the standpoint of an M&M.

So thanks to a bunch of followers of @thefinallap, we have put together a starting list of Drivers and Tracks in NASCAR that have Twitter accounts.  The idea here is to add more yourself as you find them by commenting below.  In the coming weeks, I’ll start new lists of sponsors, media, officials, NASCAR itself, and other topics that are also on Twitter.

Kurt Busch @kurtbusch
Max Papis @maxpappis
