More and more mobile phones users are browsing and searching the Internet on their handsets. The UK, for example, has neared saturation for mobile phones and many handset browsers can now handle sites designed for viewing on computers. Indeed 20% of UK mobile phone users now use the Internet on their mobile devices (source: www.pleth.com, www.powersitedesign.com, and www.cottonrohrscheib.com). I personally carry a Cingular, or AT&T, 8525 cell phone and use it a lot for browsing pages when I am out of the office, i even use it for terminal services (that’s another blog post in itself) and logging into our intranet. I realize that the technology is now available to deliver the web effectively on mobile devices, but have often asked myself if we (the development community) is ready to deliver the web to mobile devices…
