I had some people ask me about my experience getting starlink setup at the farm so I thought I would throw a quick review up. I went online and ordered the standard installation package the other night and it arrived here at the farm yesterday (about 3 days).
There was two boxes, I opened the big box up first and it contained the dish (which is actually square) and two other boxes that all plug together with the cables provided. Only one of the boxes has a cord that plugs into the electrical outlet. The thing that impressed me the most was that there wasn’t this huge multi-language instruction guide, instead there was a thick diagram printed on card stock that explained everything completely visually (the best way for people w/ ADHD like myself).
Once I downloaded the starlink app it completely walked me through the process (including positioning the dish to align w/ the satellites). The installation process was pretty cool to watch because the app gives you a visual representation of where the satellites are in space in relation to where you have your dish. This process literally took only about 30 minutes or so. Once this was done I chose my subscription package and we were literally up and running w/ the fastest internet service we’ve ever had in this part of the world.
There was a second package that I hadn’t opened up yet so I just left it in the shop while I went around and connected all of our devices and televisions to the new wireless connection. Everything immediately connected and was zooming at speeds we’ve never experienced before at this location.
The second box contains a router that will allow you to setup a mesh network. This is something I’ve had to use in the past because I’ve needed a way to extend the old internet service to my network in my workshop. The crazy thing is that I was able to connect in the shop with just the signall power from the standard setup so I’m wondering if I will even keep the router because I might not even need it… more to come on this once I’ve had it running for a little while.
Bottom line… starlink is the real deal and I’m really impressed. If you are interested, click here to get yourself setup right now!
