Someone pointed out to me this weekend that I had reached a milestone on LinkedIn and I didn’t even realize it. LinkedIn is one of my favorite social relationship builders on the web today. I hit 100 connections at some point this past week and had no idea. I signed up for LinkedIn a little while back when someone sent me an invitation and it’s kind of grown from there. I try to use LinkedIn to track new people that I meet that are in the development / hosting industry. For instance, the bulk of my LinkedIn contacts I think that I met at conferences such as HostingCon, etc., it’s pretty cool to dig through and see what all common connections these contacts have with you. Another thing that I really like about LinkedIn is that it also plugs into Outlook and synchronizes through Plaxo pretty seamlessly.
Here’s a description of what exactly LinkedIn in is that I grabbed from Wikipedia.org:
LinkedIn is a business-oriented networking site founded in December 2002 and launched in May 2003 (comparable to a social networking site), mainly used for professional networking. As of January 2008, it had more than 17 million registered users, spanning 150 industries and more than 400 economic regions (as classified by the service).
