Breaking News: I’m Going to Get My Boy!!!

May 17, 2012 by Cotton Rohrscheib 5 Comments

Donna and I are heading out of state this evening so we can be present at a custody hearing for our soon-to-be baby boy tomorrow!

I’m sure that a lot of you already know “our story” and how hard it’s been for us to have children. Well a couple of months ago someone saw my blog post about losing our daughter Shelby and reached out to my wife on Facebook and asked her if we were interested in adopting a, then 1 month old baby boy. I won’t go into a lot of detail but our attorneys have been working extremely hard on our behalf to make this adoption happen. I won’t go into a lot of detail other to say we have a long drive ahead of us tonight and into tomorrow to be at the custody hearing. We had no idea that this was going to happen today, in fact we had been preparing ourselves that this whole process could take up to a year… We fell in love with this baby boy the moment we saw his picture and promised one another that we were going to pursue him with every bit of energy we had and hold each other up when we got frustrated with the system, etc.

Basically every night for the past couple of months we have been going to bed at night saying a prayer for our boy while asking God at the same time to give us favor and patience during the process. Well fast forward till today, I was troubleshooting an intense programming issue when my phone rang and I couldn’t answer it, I heard my wife’s phone shortly after mine, I heard an excited conversation going on in another part of the house but couldn’t make out what was being said. I had my client on speakerphone when my wife busted into my office almost in tears telling me to stop what I was doing. I asked my client to give me a second but forget to put him on hold. When she gave me the news that the Judge overseeing our case had decided to move forward and that we needed to be there at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon to pickup our baby I broke down w/ her. Keep in mind my client was still on speaker, haha.

I’m sure I will have a lot more to report tomorrow on all of this as things progress, be sure to follow me on Twitter and Facebook for updates as I post them. I do know that I will be out of state for 5-10 days possibly, so if we had meetings or anything scheduled for this week, I will be in touch to reschedule as I drive through the night. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we walk out the remainder of this journey!!!

Praise God. I’m Going to Get My Boy!!!!!!
