Cotton Rohrscheib

I've been an entrepreneur my entire life and have been blessed to have been associated with hundreds of startups and projects throughout my career. A few years ago I started offloading many of my business interests to spend more time w/ my family and retool my focus toward the agricultural industry, ultimately I landed at Farmers Business Network, Inc. w/ a great team of people w/ shared mission / vision and the rest is history! I still operate my personal website & blog occasionally on topics of interest to me including; parenting, agriculture, technology, and whatever else comes my direction! My blog, cotton.buzz, is the product of over 20yrs worth of content, photos, podcasts, videos, etc., and all of the content I produce is mine personally, and only represent my views and/or opinions on topics and do not represent any of the businesses or associations I'm affiliated with.

Imitation Equals Flattery…

November 19, 2008 by Cotton Rohrscheib Leave a Comment

A lot of times when we develop pieces for a client campaign I think that we automatically assume that they just go away once that campaign is over and that they have lost all of their value but as I found out today, that isn’t always the case.  I was forwarded a link this morning […]

My Audi TT Roadster…

November 18, 2008 by Cotton Rohrscheib Leave a Comment

Update: I went by Parker Audi today and met w/ their shop foreman and service manager who showed me what was going on w/ the car.  Apparently there is something that is drawing power and causing the car not to go to sleep like it should once I take the key out of the ignition.  […]

Yahoo CEO to Resign

November 18, 2008 by Cotton Rohrscheib Leave a Comment

I have to admit that I wasn’t too surprised when I learned yesterday that Yahoo Founder and CEO Jerry Yang was going to be stepping down as the CEO of Yahoo.  This comes on the heels of a wicked 12 months for Yahoo where they have seen their market share decrease sharply as well as […]

Admin Themes for Client Apps

November 15, 2008 by Cotton Rohrscheib Leave a Comment

Joseph Rodgers sent me a link this past week to check out a post by Collis Ta’eed about a website where you can actually purchase ready to go admin themes for your web application just like you would a front end template and stylesheet from a template website.  This is an awesome idea and I […]

Using ModRewrite

November 13, 2008 by Cotton Rohrscheib 1 Comment

Let’s say you have just re-designed a website and during the process you were forced to change some filenames in the new site from what they were in the existing website.  For example, about.htm is now called about.php in the new site structure.  Normally you would be forced to endure having a dead link in […]

Apache 301 Redirect

November 13, 2008 by Cotton Rohrscheib Leave a Comment

I could have sworn I had posted some basic Apache Functions and Mod Rewrite’s on here a long time ago but today when I actually drew a blank and couldn’t remember how to do a 301 they were nowhere to be found so I am going to create a new category on here for Apache […]

Hosting Locations of Busiest Websites

November 13, 2008 by Cotton Rohrscheib Leave a Comment

Being a partner and co-founder of a managed hosting company, Pleth Networks, I try to stay up with what’s going on in the industry.  I stumbled onto Netcraft this morning and found this hosting research data pretty interesting.  Notice how big a piece of the pie our datacenter, The Planet, has in comparison to the […]

Turn Off WP Comments Globally

November 13, 2008 by Cotton Rohrscheib Leave a Comment

Turning off comments globally in WordPress is kind of a community frustration among developers, we get requests from time to time from our clients that are running WordPress that are wanting to globally disable comments.  Honestly there really isn’t a good way to approach this, in a nutshell, this has to be handled on a […]

November 11, 2008 by Cotton Rohrscheib Leave a Comment

Here’s an update on Facebook Connect for those of you who have been playing with the idea of integrating it into an application: For developers interested in integrating Facebook Connect support for their web, iPhone, or desktop apps, Facebook has announced that the signup process is now open. Interested developers can head over to the […]

WordPress 2.7 (Beta 2)

November 10, 2008 by Cotton Rohrscheib Leave a Comment

I have been holding off on diving into WP 2.7 for a little while until the community hashes through all of the bugs, etc. For those of you early adopters out there that do have it running with Beta 1, you may want to update to Beta 2. Here’s a list of the fixes addressed […]
