Late last year my dad started going to Weight Watchers with my Aunt so he could lose some weight. It turned out to be one of the best decisions he had ever made, he has lost close to 30lbs and is now eating healthier than he has his entire life.
After seeing his results, my wife and I decided we would get involved as well. I have had an issue recently that prohibits me from exercising like I had initially wanted to do at the start of the year so changing my diet seemed like the next best thing…
We went to our first meeting two weeks ago and did our weigh-in and orientation and I left out of the meeting w/ my reservations. The new Points Plus system just seemed to liberal to me in terms of the amount of carbs (vegetables and fruits) that were basically free foods. My last dieting experience was almost 5 years ago when I lost a lot of weight on the Atkins Diet, this is a whole new ballgame.
On the Weight Watchers diet you can basically eat anything you want as long as you come within a set amount of points for the day. In addition you also have 49 bonus add-on points you can use for special occasions like birthday parties, etc., where you know you are going to indulging in things like Birthday Cake!
Probably the biggest testimonial I have for the program though is the fact that I was probably looking at having to have a medical procedure that was going to put me out of commission for almost 2 weeks. I have increased the amount of fiber in my diet by over 500% since starting the Weight Watchers diet and that situation that was bothering me is no longer an issue! I will spare you the details, just trust me, it wasn’t going to be fun!!
This past week at our first weigh-in I was the “biggest loser” at our meeting, I lost 12.5lbs. I am pretty sure that it’s going to be tough to stay on that fast track but I anticipate good results throughout. Our refrigerator contents and the items that my wife and I would typically consume have also taken a complete 360, we now have lots of fruits and vegetables in the house that replace all of the processed groceries. Stay tuned for more as we continue this program…
