Tiny Toes in the Sand…

So when I was a kid we never really went to the beach, we always would go to our family place in Heber Springs for a week, possibly trek our way up to either Dogpatch or Silver Dollar City for a day or two and that was our vacation. Wasn’t ever a big deal for me, we always had fun. Fast forward to the present, I’m a daddy now, my parents are grandparents. A lot has changed, my folks have been planning this vacation for almost a year now, well just about every since Spencer came into our lives. See, my mom was in Destin when we got Spencer, it all happened so fast. My mom wanted to see my boy wander across the ocean with a Scoop Metal detector, just like me when I was a kid. She wanted to mark this special occasion and wanted to  return to the ocean with our boy a year later, and nobody is getting any arguments from me…

I think the last vacation out of state Donna and I have been on would have to be a trip we took to Destin several years ago when some friends got married, or another trip to Hilton Head for another wedding. This time nobody is getting married, that I’m aware. She’s been on a crash diet since the first of the year and has really done well, she’s gonna look great in a swimsuit. I’ve lost a little weight myself and definitely a lot healthier than the last time we went anywhere, so I’m looking forward to playing hard, but most of all I’m looking forward to seeing my boy put his tiny toes in the sand for the first time and a week of reflection as to what we’ve been blesssed with the past year. Pleth is rocking and rolling, our family is complete (for the time being) and we are both happier than we’ve been in a long time. I don’t think I’ve ever seen my parents happier either…

I’m still going to be checking emails and overseeing a few things while I’m in paradise, I’m just wired that way I guess, BUT (really big butt), don’t expect me to put my fishing pole down if there’s a big fish on the end of it to answer any phone calls. I’ll just call you back. 🙂 I promise.
