If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter you are probably already tired of hearing me talk about the movie ‘Greater’, if so –please just move along, I’m going to squeeze out one more post since the movie has been released across the country and this will probably be my last post for a while. I promise.
I’m excited to say that ‘Greater’ has received rave reviews across the board from critics and movie goers on sites like Rotten Tomatoes, etc. The film even got some amazing exposure from Rush Limbaugh on his nationally syndicated radio show this week, for two days straight I’m told. For those of you that have seen the film you can understand why it’s been so hard for us to sit back, after having seen the film several months ago, and wait on it to finally come out. Donna and I both knew that it was going to be amazing but after we saw it for the first time at the world premiere a few months back, our minds were blown.
I’m not going to give the plot away, suffice to say that everyone should go see the movie, it’s appeal is far-reaching, even if you don’t like football you will love this underdog story of determination, faith, and love. For those that have asked, Spencer is in two big scenes of the movie. I won’t give those away to you but he’s very easily recognized, he plays Aaron Burlsworth. I’ve been amazed at how many people went to see the movie and had no idea that Spencer was in it, I thought we did a pretty good job telling everybody, haha. Needless to say though, stardom hasn’t gone to his head. In fact, we took him to the premiere here in Conway the other night and he got bored and had to go play video games. It was kind of awkward though when during one of the funeral scenes that he is in everyone applauded and cheered. Those that didn’t know that it was him probably thought we were some sick puppies.
At the end of the film as the credits rolled there was a huge crowd standing by the back door waiting on his name to pop up on the screen. When it did it was also met w/ cheers and applause by his fan club of about twenty or so people, haha.
If you haven’t seen the movie, I highly recommend it… and I promise to slow down hammering everyone about it now that it’s been released!
