This year is flying by way too fast, it’s already time to start thinking about Barcamp Conway! This years event is going to be held at the University of Central Arkansas Business College, probably my favorite venue for events like this –definitely the most impressive / high-tech. The event date is set for June 2, 2012, as with all Barcamps, admission is fun & free, and all of the sessions are crowd-sourced based upon submitted topics / presentations, you can see a working list of the submitted topics here.
For this years event I submitted something that I think will be very useful for developer and web designers that has to do with rapid application of projects, and I thought that instead of presentation slides, which I typically always use, I would instead build a working functional project in 20 minutes. Here’s my description:
In this presentation I will demonstrate how I approach a client project using WordPress and how I rapidly deploy a core set of plugins to save time as well as using a theme framework to design upon and cut down my deployment time. I will be doing this live on a working sandbox…
In case you are not familiar w/ Barcamp, a BarCampis a participatory “un-conference” event, where the attendees are in charge of what happens. We provide all the basic needs, and hope that people interested in teaching and learning in an open environment come together to share their knowledge and experience.
What kinds of presentations should you expect? We don’t know. It all depends on you. Are you a developer? Designer? Robotics nerd? Computer Science geek? Talk about what you know. All of you – the passionate people who are driving innovation – are part of the culture that drives BarCamp and we can’t wait to see you!
Why should you attend? Because it’s fun and free!!! View the photos from BarCamp Conway 2010 →
And finally, this is probably the most important part: Why else should I attend? You participating helps us build a stronger technology community here in Arkansas. BarCamp is open to anyone who is excited about their industry. New technology and Internet culture is a common interest of many BarCamp attendees, but what brings us together is where that theme crosses into other areas – not only technology and development, but business, design, art, engineering, socializing, and organizing.
The event is totally free to the public to attend, but if you or your company would like to sponsor the event Download the Barcamp Conway Sponsorship Packet (PDF)
