Spencer Meets Mountain Man

This past weekend the guys from Duck Dynasty snuck into our hometown of Conway, Arkansas for an event they were speaking at in Greenbrier (which is a few miles north of us). They borrowed one of our close friend’s airplane to bring the guys and their wives into town so we had a little heads up in advance so we showed up and met them at the airport. It was so funny watching the guys (Martin, Godwin, and Mountain Man) all climb out of the airplane because they are all fairly good sized guys in real life.

They brought their wives and girlfriends with them on the trip which was pretty cool, as you know it, they are all way prettier than their men, haha. Obviously when they got off the airplane they all were stretching and getting their land legs back after having been in the air for about an hour or so in close quarters. We just walked right up to them and welcomed them to Arkansas and they were extremely approachable, just as you think from seeing them on television. Come to find out, Mountain Man and I have some mutual friends, wouldn’t you know it. Also, was surprised to learn that Godwin’s daughter was also adopted so they are big fans of adoption and needless to say they all melted when they learned Spencer’s story.

We really connected w/ Martin and his girlfriend Brittany, who fell in love w/ Spencer, and I think he was just about as crazy about her. He did his normal smile and blink thing where he flirts w/ every pretty girl he sees, which is super cute if you haven’t seen it in person. At one point Mountain Man walked over and was talking to Spencer and while Spencer would grin at him, when Mountain Man asked to hold him Spencer immediately pulled away. haha. It was pretty comical and is captured in the photo I’ve attached to this post.

Something about me that I’m sure a lot of you that follow this blog are probably already aware, I’m pretty open about my faith and will sometimes express my beliefs while in a group of people because I’m somewhat bold like that these days. My wife Donna is the same way. One thing I’ve learned over the years is how to discern whether or not I’m with a group of genuine believers, these guys were obviously on board, in fact at one point Martin said something that Donna and I both picked up on, he mentioned how Spencer looks a lot like me, and he followed that up by saying it’s amazing how God works things like that out. No doubt we were in the presence of some awesome believers who are using their platform of fame to set examples and minister to the masses. I pray that their ministry continues to grow and grow!! I also pray blessings over each of their houses as they continue their journey into our living rooms and into our hearts!

In closing, I’ll answer one question that everyone has asked us. Yes, Mountain Man really does talk like that. Love that guy!!! Also, had a really nice exchange w/ Martin’s girlfriend Brittany via Twitter after they left, she favorited the tweet that had their photo in it. Also, I’ve posted all of the photos on my blog here…
