Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. — Matthew 2:2
Listening to the story of Christmas while I get some work done and this ADHD thought just popped in my head. One of the hardest thing about the holidays is loading up the family and traveling. It’s the loading the car, listening to everyone’s complaints, dealing with traffic, etc.
Things probably weren’t a lot different during the time of Jesus’s birth, w/ the exception they drove camels –and it took considerably longer. You had to be committed (and really like the people you were on your way to visit). Can you imagine how crazy people must have thought they were to take off following a star in the sky not really knowing what they might find when they got there. Have you ever ridden a camel? I have. It’s not near as comfortable you might think.
Their “risk” paid off for them in such a big way though, they were among the first to meet the baby that would change the world forever. I guess the moral of the story of the wise men is don’t hesitate to follow your dreams.
