Homeless Children Go Shopping!

“Then the king will say to those bad people on his left, ‘Go away from me. God has already decided that you will be punished. Go into the fire that burns forever. That fire was prepared for the devil and his angels. You must go away, because I was hungry, and you gave me nothing to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me nothing to drink. I was alone and away from home, and you did not invite me into your home. I was without clothes, and you gave me nothing to wear. I was sick and in prison, and you did not care for me.’ “Then those people will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty? When did we see you alone and away from home? Or when did we see you without clothes or sick or in prison? When did we see these things and not help you?’ “Then the king will answer, ‘I tell you the truth. Anything you refused to do for any of my people here, you refused to do for me.’ “Then those bad people will go away. They will have punishment forever. But the good people will go and have life forever.” – — Matthew 25:41-46

I would absolutely love to see our 501c3 non-profit, The One, Inc., organize something like this in the future. Big kudos to the awesome people in Fairfax County Virginia for putting this project together to help homeless children purchase school clothes and back to school supplies. I know that I sometimes take a controversial stand on this issue but I have found it to be troubling how much money our government sends overseas to tear down and rebuild entire nations while we have homeless, hungry children, like the ones in this video that have been exposed to more horror and misery in their short lives than a lot of us can even comprehend.  I also find it ironic that many churches will solicit donations for causes that are completely on the other side of the world while there’s a homeless veteran holding a cardboard side willing to work for food just a few miles from their front door going completely ignored.  Now, let me say for the record that I have no problem with foreign missions, etc., I just feel like we have to also pay attention to what is going on in our own communities.

Again, I hope that one day The One, Inc. can help coordinate something like this for our families in Central Arkansas that are either homeless or in dire need of help. Also, stay tuned to this blog as well as our Facebook and Twitter feeds for several ways you can get involved or support our ministry that we will be announcing in the coming weeks…
