It’s been 9 months now since Spencer came into our lives, it just seems like yesterday that we got a phone call from our attorney asking if we could be in Kansas at 1:30pm that following day for a hearing where we could take custody of of this precious 3 month old baby boy that we had been praying diligently to God about every single day. We were initially sent a photo of him while he was in the hospital and every single person that we had asked to be praying over the situation had it on their phones, some of us as our wallpaper, for an entire month before we ever met him.
One of my favorite parts of that day that I have also shared a million times is when they brought him into the law offices I already had my iPhone camera turned onto video so I could capture the exact moment that they handed him to Donna on video. Well, that didn’t exactly go down as I had planned… the moment I saw this little guy in the arms of his foster parents we locked eyes and something happened in that moment because before I knew it I had tears running down my cheeks and his face lit up like a Christmas tree and he was smiling from ear to ear. Obviously I handed Donna my phone as I shoved her out of the way and grabbed my baby boy and held him for the first time.
I won’t ever forget that overwhelming feeling that comes after physically holding something that has been awarded and entrusted to you by God himself, directly as a result of your prayers.
Well, fast forward 9 months and guess who is having his first birthday? Yep, baby boy is turning one, but instead of just having one birthday party he’s going to be having two. The first one will be held at the Farm in Lexa (aka Papaw, Arkansas) on Saturday, February 16th at 10:30am. The second party will be here in Conway at our house on Sunday, February 24th at 1:30pm. Here’s the deal on both of these parties… there’s no way we could have physically sent everyone an invitation to these parties because… well, he has a pretty large fan base! So, take this as your formal invitation to attend either party of your choosing (whichever is more convenient for you) to help us celebrate this very special day!
Stay tuned for photos and updates from the parties to be shared later, in the meantime, hope you enjoyed this collection of my favorite Spencer photos from his first year…
For those that have asked, here’s a map to the Farm…
For those of you that just type the address into your GPS, it’s 1743 PC 251 Rd., Lexa, Arkansas 72355…
