I know that it seems like we’ve been on this road for a million years, and so many of you ping us on a daily basis to let us know that you are praying for us, and have consistently since this journey began –and for that, we can’t thank you enough. As some of you are already aware, we had some positive developments last month. If you’ve been following along, you might remember that we had a serious setback when a blood clot formed and lodged in Donna’s lungs subsequently, we were “de-activated” on the transplant list until we could get the blood clot under control…
We had no idea that this process was going to take several months to resolve but eventually (after about 20 different doctor visits w/ specialists) we were finally submitted to the transplant board to be reactivated last month and it was approved. What does this mean? Do we have to start all over again at the bottom? The answer is no, while we were deactivated we still maintained our position near the top of the list (having been waiting for almost 3 years now). Now that we are activated we are just waiting on the phone call (which will likely come in the middle of the night) from our surgical team telling us to get on the road.
We’ve been planning for this for 3 years and we have a very good plan in place for when we do get “the call”, our team of family & friends, even neighbors are ready to spring into action, and I’m ready to make that phone call to the state police to let them know that there’s a King Ranch F150 heading to LR from Conway and I’m going to be coming in hot…
While we are excited to be reactivated, this has also brought upon some anxiety that we weren’t expecting, or at least I wasn’t expecting it. Every time our phones ring we get antsy and check to make sure the transplant team isn’t calling us. We know that the day is coming…
I’ve had a lot of people asking what they could do for us, as of right now the only thing we can do is to pray, so please join w/ us to pray that God’s plan for Donna’s kidney will happen soon, and also please pray that Donna and I will not become impatient during this time.
Again, I can’t tell everyone how thankful Donna and I are to have such a network of friends and family praying for us!
