Bad Logo Design…

July 7, 2007 by Cotton Rohrscheib Leave a Comment

Since my background is in Graphic Design I enjoy getting out there to look at what my peers are doing in terms of logo design.  I seldom do Logo work anymore, we have our own designer now, but it’s still a hobby and passion for me.  I believe that a “good logo” is an important building block to having an effective presence on the web, I know that there are exceptions to this theory but for the most part I stick to it.  Here is an example of what can happen though when not enough eyes take a look at a logo before it goes to the client…

When I first saw this logo my partner Greg ran across it somewhere on the web and forwarded it over to me.  I have seen it several times in various industry blogs, most of the time people are just really having a ball making fun of it.  For a long time I thought to myself that surely this is just something that someone put together and posted to the web and surely no one would pay for this in their right mind, but to my shock and dismay look what I found…

Not only did they pay for it but they also have it plastered on their storefront.  I bet the guys at the sign company that put together this overhang for them had a good laugh when this order came through.  I know that I am not the only one that see’s this as just plain wrong… ha.  Oh, and here’s further proof that this client got a lot of mileage out of this artwork…

Just being the curious soul that I am I googled this business and went to their website, they have another logo on their site now that has to do w/ their 5th anniversary or something.  Definitely a good call…  You just can’t make this stuff up you know?
